The Cake Cupboard

No time to sit down? When you do not have time to sit down and relax with a cup of tea, you can always pick up a tasty treat to eat on the go. The Cake Cupboard sells the freshly baked cakes, scones and pastries that you can order in the tearoom, as well as tempting regulars such as bakewell tarts, gingerbread biscuits, chocolate fudge cakes and of course, the infamous Plump Pilgrim.

We bake a wide range for everyone and the items on sale will change daily, but in order to keep a good rotation of freshly produced goods some items may be sold out later on in the day… but rest assured your favourite will never be out of our counter for long!

Local suppliers. As well as our own baked goods, we also sell a range of products from suppliers whose goods we use in the tearoom. This includes tea, coffee, jams, chutney, wine, soft drinks and bread.

This is a list of some of our suppliers:

Oscars bakery. Oscars are based in Faversham and are a family run craft bakers. We use their bread with our dishes served in-house but we have a selection of their best loaves for sale over the counter.

The Kent Tea Company. The Kent Tea & Trading Company is a family company established in 1982. Three generations of the Smith family have been involved in India in the tea trade. Established now for over twenty years the Kent Tea & Trading Company continues to develop a reputation for highest quality teas and coffees. A number of their teas and coffees have won awards including the Great Taste Awards.

The Wooden Spoon Company. The company’s name encapsulates the essence of why it was created over 30 years ago by Ann and Peter Bolt: the desire to use traditional methods to produce a truly unique range of preserves using natural ingredients. Their challenge from the outset was to provide jams and marmalades which individually would be approved by the discerning ‘home made’ connoisseur whilst as a range unrivalled in its variety. The preparation, cooking, stirring (with wooden spoons and spatulas!) potting, capping and labelling is still done by hand ensuring the highest quality is received by the customer. The company has also won a number of awards for their preserves including Best Kent Product 2006 and the Great Taste Awards 2005 - 2007.

Biddenden Vineyard.We are promoting homegrown wines which are growing in reputation. We serve wine from the award winning Biddenden Vineyards and you can assist in the promotion of Kent wine by taking a bottle home to share with your friends. We stock white, red and sparkling rose for those extra special occasions along with their vintage strong cider.

Chapel Down Vineyard.Award winning sparkling wine grown and produced in the heart of Kent has given the French Champagne a run for it's money and is a great alternative for celebrations. Chapel down is produced by the English Wines Group plc and are the largest producer of English wines. They source their grapes from over 180 acres all over the south-east of England and are constantly looking to expand.
